The Young Centre for the Performing Arts is a new 45,000 square foot performing arts facility located in Toronto's Distillery Historic District. The Young Centre opened in 2006 with 3 flexible spaces:the 425-seat Baillie Theatre, 250-seat Michael Young Theatre and 120-seat Tank House Theatre, and a 60 seat studio, and is home to the George Brown Theatre School, Soulpepper Theatre and rental productions. The facility combines heritage and contemporary architecture, and also has two teaching classrooms and four rehearsal studios, a central atrium with a café, and bookstore.
The Young Centre's main theatre is configurable with procenium, thrust and arena stages and all venues feature state-of-the-art technical equipment. The spacious Atrium and Cabaret are perfect places to hold launches, press conferences and parties. The intimate performance spaces are both flexible and multi-purpose, and ideal for theatrical productions, dance performances, musical recitals, lectures or readings. All rentals include access to their professional house technicians and friendly front-of-house staff and the Young Centre box office (with both on-site and web-based ticket sales).
Patrons enjoy access to the atrium café, with fresh food and beverage service available to all patrons within the facility.
