In 1892, industrial baron Hart Massey (1823-96) bought land and hired architect Sidney Badgley to design a memorial to his son Charles Albert Massey. Massey Hall was completed in 1894 and is a classical, fixed plaster-shell concert hall. The hall seats 2,763 patrons on Main Floor, Balcony, and Gallery (above balcony)levels. Massey Hall has a storied history, as a venue for musical, theatrical and sporting events.
The Box Office is open at 12:00 p.m. on concert days only. Advance tickets for Massey Hall can be purchased in person at the Roy Thomson Hall Box Office. Massey Hall's stage is 60-feet wide upstage (65-feet wide downstage between stairs), and 35-feet deep at centre, 27-feet deep onstage of stairs with a 58-feet height clearance.
