This facility has a 468-seat Mainstage, and a 115-seat Studio theatre. Since 1966, the LKTYP (formerly Young People's Theatre), is committed to the development of young people through professional theatre, using live performance to validate the common experiences young people encounter as they grow up in an increasingly complex world.

LKTYP's performances are designed to help children and youth identify with the issues they face today and to offer a platform for addressing these challenges in an entertaining way, presenting new Canadian plays, innovative works and classics from children's literature throughout the season. They offer weekend performances for family audiences, weekday school programs for students, scheduled workshops for teachers, and a year-round Drama School.

The Mainstage (Susan Rubes) Theatre is a 460-seat, proscenium-style theatre with a raised, sprung, masonite stage floor and a full complement of theatrical lights, sound and draperies to suit almost any theatrical production. This has been used for theatre festivals, dance recitals, showcases and corporate meetings, typically from mid-May until the end of June.

The Studio (Nathan Cohen) Theatre is an 115-seat, black box style studio, and is used as both a rehearsal hall and a theatre. It has a pull-out bleacher seating for 115 kids or 90 adults, a light and sound system. The Studio is available throughout the year in and around our programming.

LKTYP venues can be rented for a variety of needs, and rates depend on the type of event and amount of days, with discounted rates for not-for-profit users. Rental rates do not include additional labour charges for technical and front of house personnel. We also have the ability to sell your tickets through our box office.
